Meet Lisa Hubbard

What kind of classes do you teach? I have owned my private studio for ten years and mainly teach privately on the Pilates apparatuses and the mat work (BASI Pilates®️ 2000). I love be able to take my work to wonderful and exciting destinations teaching my Rhythm Pilates®️ Teacher Training program and my Pilates workshops. I am also a licensed GYROTONIC®️ (2011) instructor and completed a 200-hour Yogaworks certification (2009).

Where were you raised and where do you currently live? Age, if ok. I was born in Pasadena, CA and was raised on a ranch in Chino, CA. I grew up riding horses with my mother and two sisters. We had 8 dogs, 4 cats, one mean goose and 50 chickens that supplied the eggs! I have been living in Newport Beach, CA for over 25-years. This October I will be turning 49, ugh!

What motivates you to get up in the morning? What motivates me to get up in the morning is coffee and my lovely and dedicated clients! I cherish my mornings, starting off with a brisk walk/jog up, down and around the canyon where we live.

Is there a book you’re reading right now? Yes, I am currently reading ‘Where’d Yo Go, Bernadette’ a national best seller by Maria Semple. I have recently put it down since the “vacation” was over, but it definitely is humorous and keeps me coming back for more laughs!

If you could only do two workouts a week, what would it be? The two modalities that have been the most rewarding for me have been Pilates and Yoga, so if I had to choose just two...but I am also passionate about the GYROTONIC and GYROKINESIS body of work.

Is there a teacher that you love learning from? I have two teachers that have helped shaped my career and whom I love learning from is Rael Isacowitz, BASI Pilates, Newport Beach, CA (my mentor) and by Alicia Head, UP Studio, Long Beach, CA.

What is your favorite way to spend a day outdoors? My favorite way to spend outdoors is walking the canyon (whilst listening to a Podcast), golfing with my husband, taking our dogs to the park and heading to Laguna Beach to watch my hubby surf. A perfect weekend in sunny Southern California!

Are there any charities you support? Yes, I am very passionate about animal cruelty and have supported diverse charities over the years. I am also a sponsor for a under privileged child through Compassion International for the last 5-years.

Where can we find you teaching classes? I would love for you to find me! You can schedule a class with me by emailing me directly or please visit my website. I also offer teaching tips and demos on my IG account @lisahubbardpilates

Last, what is in your gym bag? What’s in my gym bag will always be the clothing that makes me feel my best and that’s Carbon38 activewear! You will also find cold water, a towel and my mat under my arm as I head to another class I love!
