Meet Yoga Teacher Katelyn Caillouet

What kind of classes do you teach? Yoga in the style of vinyasa, power and gentle/yin

Where were you raised and where do you currently live? Age, if ok. I was raised in Atlanta, GA then spent some time in Washington D.C. as an adult. I recently moved to Long Beach, CA. I'm 28.

What motivates you to get up in the morning? The beauty and the possibility of a new day motivate me to wake up, make coffee, and design a plan for my day.

Is there a book you’re reading right now? I'm reading Invisible Women: Exposing Data Bias in a World Designed for Men by Caroline Criado-Perez. It's about how women, half of our global population, have been overlooked or forgotten and thus painted as a "minority," largely because of the gender data gap.

If you could only do two workouts a week, what would it be? A nice long run on the beach and a half intense, half relaxing yoga class.

Is there a teacher that you love learning from? I haven't found my teacher here yet, but I did get to try out Aimee Echo's led Ashtanga class at the Long Beach Yoga Festival and I found her teaching style lovely. She encouraged traditional practices while also keeping it real.

What is your favorite way to spend a day outdoors? Bike ride or run on the beach. I also love a good hike! Southern California is perfect for both.

Are there any charities you support? My favorite charity is Charity: Water. Clean water is our most essential resource and water scarcity can be devastating to communities so I support anything that helps those experiencing the water crisis.

Where can we find you teaching classes? I'm still new here but you can practice with me at select yoga & margaritas classes through FGC at the Hotel Maya.

Last, what is in your gym bag? A water bottle, small towel, deodorant, essential oil (I love sandalwood and frangipani), and my yoga mat.
